When considering the production, storage and communication of information we (society) have become dependant on technology for work and leisure. Just think when was the last time you received an invite to a party by post or handed over a hand written C.V.? It's expected that you are online and chasing the technology dragon by buying newer, faster and slim lined devises otherwise you become obsolete!
These devises are expensive and can be tricky to use, but in so many ways they can benefit us and be of great use. I find text messaging to be a great way to contact someone without talking to them and for just 20cents. Face book again has become a great way to reconnect with old friends and a way to be apart of causes, events and general silly banter. Computers and the internet is how I'm gaining my next qualification and sometimes its useful and quick and other times the learning is lost due to lack of tone and context which you gain from a "real life teacher".
During my OT placements, technology was quite new to the area. One placement they had just placed all the client files from written documents into computer files. The OT showed me the room which had all the old files in, its was jam packed so now all of that information is on one computer system...much easier for the team to assess client files now.
Ethical implications arise all the time when dealing with technology.
Computer Ethics defined Ethics is a set of moral principles that govern the behavior of a group or individual. Therefore, computer ethics is set of moral principles that regulate the use of computers.
